Meet Resilient Robine, Newest Board Member

Every girl who runs with us gets to pick a name. It is a small tradition and the girls take it seriously, because choosing what you want to be called is its own kind of practice.

Robine Morrison chose hers before her first board meeting.

"I think I'd like my GOTR name to be Resilient Robine."

We could not have picked a better one for her.

What she does when she is not with us

Robine is International Counsel at United Airlines, where she leads legal strategy across the Asia-Pacific and Canada regions. She works alongside business and operational leaders on regulatory complexity, risk, and commercial growth for one of the largest airlines in the world.

She came to United in November 2024 after years as a litigation partner at Winston & Strawn, where she represented clients in high-stakes commercial disputes from early case assessment all the way through trial.

Outside her legal practice, she has led within Winston's Women's Leadership Initiative and its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. She has served the American Bar Association's Judicial Intern Opportunity Program, the University of Illinois College of Law Alumni Board, the Texas Medical Center Orchestra Board, and the parent organization at her son's school.

That is a person who keeps showing up for the room she is in.

She was already here

Robine is not new to Girls on the Run. She has supported this organization for years through sponsorship and volunteering, long before anyone mentioned a board seat.

Part of that connection runs through her employer. United Airlines is a national partner of Girls on the Run, and the two organizations share a straightforward idea: girls should be able to see themselves in rooms and roles they have not been in yet. Robine has spent a career walking into those rooms.

She has said that Girls on the Run sits at the meeting point of her professional and personal values, particularly her commitment to breaking down barriers and to inspiring the generation of leaders coming next. She cares about girls building the kind of confidence that outlasts a season.

Why the name fits

Resilience is not a word our girls learn from a worksheet. They learn it on a Tuesday afternoon when it is raining, or when the run is harder than they expected, or when they have to say something out loud to a group of people they just met.

An attorney who spent a career taking complex cases through trial knows something about that. So does a person who has served on this many boards while raising a kid and running legal strategy for two continents.

Robine, we are glad you are here. Welcome to the team, Resilient Robine.
